Default V90 dash lights

I find the instruments on my 97 V90 almost unreadable in daylight, worse if driving into the sun,no problem at night.
So how difficult is it to rewire the dash lights to illuminate when the ignition is turned on?
an auto electrician I am not.

Drive with the headlight switch on. The DRLs on your V90 are on all the time, regardless of the position of the headlight switch. The dash lights are only illuminated when the headlight switch is turned to sides or dipped h/lights.
This way the dash lights will be illuminated in the day too so you can read them

Cheers

I have the same problem with my 97 V90. I do switch on the 'parking lights' using the headlight switch, but run the risk of leaving them on if I stop to go shopping for example. What I'd like to do is either have a warning bleeper wired in so that I am ' told' to turn off the parking lights (but can be ignored if I actaully want parking lights on - rarely) or rewired so that the parking lighhts are on when ignition is on. Any ideas guys?

The parking lights/DRLs should be on when the ignition is on regardless of the position of the headlight switch. Unless you have a USA import car.

Cheers

the DRL's are on all the time, but they do not trigger the dash lights, I had not thought of switching the heads on. On my old 850 the dash lights came on with the ignition no matter what was selected on the switch, and thats what I am after.

Same in my 940. From September onwards I just used to drive with the headlights set to dipped as they would turn off with the ignition, it was dark enough for lights when I was driving and the dash lights were on.

Cheers

With my V90 (not a USA import) when the light switch is in the off position no lights are on when ignition is off Then in first position just the parking lights are on. However when ignition is on and light switch is off then DRL are on. If switch is then turned to first position the dash lights come on. It sounds probably too complicated to rejig the wiring to have dash lights on when ignition is on, but perhaps a warning bleeper could be wired in to alert driver to turn off parking lights if they had been on to allow dash lighting. Some cars I know have this arrangement so perhaps not to difficult to wire in. That would be wonderful, but until then I have to remember to turn off parking lights if I had them on to see dash details.

Thumbs up

There are very few things I don't like about my V90,the dash lights excepted.

I see that there are several buzzer devices on eBay and elsewhere that can warn of lights left on when the driver's door is opened (and parking lights left on!). Would any one know how to connect in a V90 or perhaps have experience that could be passed on?

It occured to me that it might be quite simple to wire a buzzer/bleeper across the driver's door switch and the parking lights switch or a cable from there to the lights so that it sounds when the door is opened whilst the parking lights switch is on. All I ned to find is a buzzer/bleeper that has a circuit that only allows one buzz/bleep then resets. I'll look around to see what I can find. If anyone knows of such a thing do say please.
