Question Rain sensor indicator symbol

Try as I might I cannot see the rain sensor icon in the driver display (12"). Do you know where I should be looking? Thanks.

It should be on the top row of the display.
It's a drawing of a windscreen with a wiper and a waterdrop.
If lane assist is active (2 converging lines symbolising the view down a road),
the rainsensor symbol will show at the bottom of the lane assist symbol.
I don't know how it is shown if lane assist is not active.

It only shows if you have the button pressed on the wiper stalk to activate them. If you use the wipers by using the stalk to turn them on the rain sensor is deactivate and needs pressing again, you can use single wipe by pulling stalk bownwards and this will not deactivate rain sensor. The wiper icon is at the top of the driver display just to the right of centre when activated. Just under the normal icons that are always there.

Make sure hand brake is off. it appears in the same place as hand-brake symbol

As nu11eaf says, activate/deactivate using button on right hand stalk.

I think the default is always to switch it off, unless you tick the "Rain Sensor Memory" Setting (Settings...My Car...Wipers)

An annoying carry-through from the Mk1 XC90.
It should be "on" by default!

Why is that?

Yes I agree, but if you tick the box in the last photo it will always stay on unless you use the wipers manually. Then you need to press the stalk button again but it will ramain on again, manual operation does not untick memory box.

Indeed, that's all it takes to make it default. Not much trouble to make it so.
I like to have the choice (and allow others to make a different choice), I don't like the rain sensors to be on by default.

I suspect standard setting is "off" so as not to automatically engage wipers when screen is frozen or covered in snow - which may damage wipers, wiper arms or motors?
