Default S90 - suitable family car?

Hi guys, newbie here.

Me and the mrs have been looking at an S90 as there's some really aggressive lease deals out there for it at the moment and we need to upsize as we've got baby #2 due any time soon.

We went to look at one on Saturday and whilst we love it, we felt a bit unsure on the boot size. Going to see the Skoda Superb before hand probably didn't help though.

Whilst a V90 would be nice, I can see no deals that come close to what we've seen for the S90.

Do any of you lot run your S90 as a family car? We've got a 5 y/o and a new baby due and often do a lot of travelling up to the north east, so tend to take at least 1 large suitcase, a buggy and all sorts of other associated crap.

I'm just looking for some reassurance and possibly pictures of full boots to alleviate the wife's concerns!

To be fair to the garage, they have said to bring all our stuff down to try it out but that's easier said than done in the current 1 series

Any help appreciated!

I would take your stuff to the garage or see if they will lend you a car to take home and test the boot. When I was looking at the XC90 I have ,the dealer let me have a demo car to take home and try it in the garage. It fitted and I have bought the car. Another plus for these cars is the safety and I believe the family pack has the child seat feature built into the rear seats. These cars are a really comfy and safe place to be when the family are on board or not.

Deffo take your stuff to the garage and try. I did the same thing with the good lease deals last month (£2200 up front and £244 per month over 23 months for R-Design D4 with front sensors and metallic paint). It swung it over things like the Peugeot 3008, Ovtavia VRS and Superb which I was previously looking at!

For me I always want to be able to put golf clubs in without folding seats and they very nearly go straight in lengthways with the S90, just need a slight angle. I have a feeling it'll be absolutely fine based on your needs.

Very similar sort of cars I've been looking at so that's reassuring that you picked the S90 over them. I've emailed the garage today to ask whether I can nip down at some point and try it out. I doubt I'll get a V90 or S90 prices but one can hope.

The S90 seemed a noticeable step up in quality from those others, as good as they are. The 3008 is actually really good (had one as a lease car last week) and has even more tech for your money than pre-options S90. I was a bit bored of the VW group stuff having had my last 3 cars Scirocco, Seat Exeo and a Yeti. The Volvo seemed smooth, quiet and powerful enough with a bit more road presence to boot - I was let into spaces on my test drive that I'd usually be cut up for!

When I looked at the V90, I opened the tailgate took one look and walked away, Volvo are way off the mark now with estate cars, tailgate slope reduces load carrying, I could not fit my dog in the back, this used to be Volvo's strong point but now they have gone for looks over practicality, estate cars are for load lugging but alas not any longer, XC90 is the only real practical alternative.

I really like the look of the 3008 but I'll be damned if I can find a deal on a GT-Line that even remotely comes close.

Interesting... coming from a 1 series though, anything is going to look cavernous in comparison for us now!
