Yes it does, Vida is showing 27g of soot which is slowly increasing with the (cold) engine idling. Think I’ll keep an eye on that over the next few weeks to see if it’s behaving as I’d expect (not that I know how quickly the soot builds up in a healthy engine)

The trip computer is always optimistic.

31.9 doesn't sound at all right to me Reggit, even if your read-out doesn't flatter like everyone else's (by an unvarying 8.5% in my case). Surely a true 37 would be nearer the mark - and 42 on a longer motorway trip, based on your speed.
Yes, engine noise at idle and under acceleration at lower speed, accentuated by the fairly slushy box, is perhaps the only real disappointment with the D5, though mine (a 2008) sounds much nicer in warm weather. I'd understood the later versions were much improved? |

Before I bought my XC70, I test drove a 2008 and one 2011, both with D5 engines. The sound level in the older was significantly higher. It was like a small lorry in comparison.
I ended up buying a (then) new 2012 D5, with Polestar (230 hp 470 Nm). I don't measure the range, but the consumption, as we do here. I can come down to indicated 7 l/100 km at normal driving, mainly rural. I can get it down to 6 l/100 km if I am really careful and think about ECO-driving all the time. Right now, the trip computers shows signifcantly more, since I did a 1500 km trip towing a caravan a few weeks ago. With the caravan I reach 12 l/100 km. |

Consumption of my previous P2 diesel automatic XC70 was noticeably better (but I can’t remember the details). |

Replied to your other thread, but it seems you already have an eye on the soot level, at 27g it will already have tried & failed to regen. I would take it for a run to let it sort itself out, if not you will soon start getting the DIM message about the soot filter.

Just checked DPF soot level and its now showing 0.1g, so appears to have been regenerating yesterday, that probably explain the really appalling mpg.
Going to leave this thread here now as my question has been answered and it's now duplicating a question I asked in the diesel section. |
