Default Can I use Ceratec?

Hi Guys

I'm the owner of a V50 2.4.i 2008 with 5 speed automatic gearbox, I've received a LiquiMoly Ceratec and I'm not sure if I can use because there is a warning in the box saying that the product is 'not suitable for use with wet clutches'.

i was googling about the gearbox and the clutch but I didn't found any information regarding this.

The mechanic says that 'Volvo's engines aren't additive friendly' however I've read many so many positive comments about the use of ceratec that I'm willing to give it a try.

I appreciate your opinions / comments.

Thanks in advance.

Martin.

Are you proposing to put this in the engine or the automatic gearbox?

Putting anything that'll alter the friction of the oil in the automatic gearbox would be exceptionally foolhardy.

Putting it in the engine, well Volvo say specifically not to use engine oil additives and no manufacturer of automotive, industrial, aeronautical, or indeed any other sort of IC engine recommend or support their usage, but it'll probably do absolutely nothing.

"Not for use with wet clutches" means don't use it in motorcycle engines where the clutch operates in the engine oil, unlike a car that has a dry clutch. So yes it's OK to use in a car engine.

Thanks Phil, my intention is to use within the engine. not the gearbox, that's why I was confused.
