Default "Bonnet open"

This started last night.

Whilst driving I get a warning that my bonnet is open in the right hand display. The bonnet most certainly isn't open.

Anyone else suffered from this?

I can only think that a bird strike that I suffered a little while back has now dislodge something. Little birdy hit the upper right part of the grille close to where the bonnet mechanism is.

I think there is a sensor as you open the bonnet has moved and the vibrations has moved the sensor out of place now and again would say not always the bonnet open warning is on

It's an intermittent fault which is annoying. It's in at the dealers today so let's see what happens.

Sorted. Cable had come loose near the bonnet catch.

Two visits to Harratts Leeds now for warranty work. Both times had great service too.

Glad to hear it was an easy fix and you got good service.

Any reason you used Harratts that's not where you purchased it was it?

Bought it from Ray Chapman Motors in York.

However I work in Leeds so it's easier to take it to Harratts on the way to work.

Chapman's are fine too. Just a matter of convenience.

Question re:bonnet open

Hi, I have a 2007 s80 2.4d. I opened my bonnet to add some top up oil and after closing, the "bonnet open" symbol was displayed.
I reopened and closed the bonnet several times and was surely locked tight , yet still the message appeared that the bonnet was open.
I sprayed some 3 in 1 oil with silicone into the both mechanisms and drove the car , after a few minutes the open bonnet symbol went off , then back on and off and finaly has gone off.
I am reluctant to reopen the bonnet now , as the car alarm will activate if i cannot lock the bonnet properly.

you really need a new bonnet catch for the right side ( Incorporating the switch ) to cure this ...

I have a 2011 S60 D3 and it looks like I may have to replace the bonnet catch on the driver side as it is not locking in place when pushed down into the closed position (replicated closing the bonnet using a screwdriver in the catch) and it wouldn't stay shut...the passenger side one is fine!

I have the replacement catch but no idea how to remove the old one as can't figure out a way to get into it.

Any tips? Thanks
