Radio mounting plate
Hi all,
I have a 1986 Volvo 240 saloon (RHD) that has the radio mounted at the top of the dash. This has now completely stopped working. Please let me know if you have a mounting kit or an original radio/cassette in working order (I still have tonnes of cassettes). Thank you. Best wishes from Neil |

As a mounting plate, from what I have read in te forum, you should be able to remove the mount from your existing Volvo radio and make a small enlargement of the rectangular hole to fit a newer third party unit. I understand the Volvo unit is held to its mounting plate by small screws.
Beware of buying a plate from an accessory shop. Some are LHD sold in the UK. But playing cassettes now is a different issue. |

Following on from Stephen's post, Neil, Halfords carry new LHD plates - fat lot of use that is in the UK!
He is also right that the existing plate will take a modern ISO radio, but you will need to file it down a little - from recollection it's the width that is the issue. By a little, I mean about 1mm on each side. Be careful as the plastic is likely to be a bit brittle/easy to crack I installed an ISO radio three years ago and all has been fine since and once you've changed the mount, you can then change your ISO radio as and when you want Good luck, Nick |

Thanks!
Many thanks for all your advice! Agreed – LHD plates seem plentiful, but not much use here.
