Default High pitch whistling when acceleratiing- 2004 S40

I have a 2004 Volvo S40. Recently there is a high pitched whistling sound whenever I start the engine. The sound gets louder when I accelerate down the road. There is also black smoke emanating from the exhaust pipe. I am just guessing, but is this caused by a faulty Fuel Pressure Regulator? if not, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Which engine ?
Either way, sounds like an air intake leak of some sort ? if it's a turbo model check air intake/ boost pipe intercooler, etc,
