Vvt not fitted?
Hi all. Buying a 53 plate 1.8 bi-fuel and the seller says the vvt is rattling. As it's done nearly 100k I'm not surprised so rang the dealership to see about a new vvt pulley. They said that it was discontinued but that was no issue as mine doesn't have a vvt pulley, just two normal pulleys. It has the solenoid apparently so is this a glitch on their side, or does it really not have a vvt? I'll be looking at it on Saturday but pricing up parts and this will make a difference in the asking price.

Some 1.8's didn't have vvt, you need the engine code really to be sure..

Being a 53 plate makes your example a phase 2, which has VVT. The dealer will be correct in as much as the parts are likely discontinued from Volvo directly, however is incorrect to state the car doesn't have VVT.
