FWIW have heard bad things about Norwich Union too. However, don't want to tar the whole industry with the same brush but they do make a rod for their own backs. A common clause is that you're not covered if vehicle stolen/broken into/etc. within a certain distance of your home, but funny how they hide that until you have to claim. IMO insurance is necessary but the current system is legalised extortion. You must have insurance so the insurance companies can charge what they want. They also think they know better than the government too e.g. any driving points the DVLA (a governemnt organisation despite trying to be private) remove after 4 years yet insurance companies want the info for 5

...sorry for the rant.

On topic, best of luck getting this sorted

I know that this advice is no good after the event, but hopefully useful to the rest if you. I always carry a disposable camera with flash in the glovebox of the car. If I am involved in an accident then I take as many photos as possible of the scene, the cars etc....

This has a few advantages: it puts the wind up the other driver and you get some good genuine reasonable quality evidence photos. I did this once when I was hit by a spinning van on the M6. He originally denied responsibility, but once his insurance co. was presented with my red paint on the nearside of his vehicle I could prove he was backwards up the motorway when he hit me. The coppers at the scene even walked me back across the m/way to central reservation to get some good photos! Result was all costs recovered, NCB reinstated and I even claimed for the cost of the camera and processing!

I replace the camera every year (the film does go out of life) and it is the best preventative £5 a year you can spend. I know many people now have cameras on their mobiles, but I have been told that digital photos are not legally admissable as they can be digitally manipulated.

Cheers
