SAE, Hope it was as easy as yours mate.
Feel a bit of hope round the corner, will let you know how i got on today.
cheers

PS. Coasted home last night in 3rd gear, couldnt get it into 4th.
This morning put into geartronic mode and got it up to the 4th and left it there for the drive to work, came off busy a road and let the auto take over.

Just had this fault come up on my DIM last week whilst towing caravan to north wales for a holiday, booked it in to Slaters Volvo dealers abergele quoted £50+vat for the diagnostic. Returned 30 mins later told it required a soft ware update £13.43 no charge for diagnostic drove away a happy man. Very resonable for a volvo dealer.

Went back this afternoon after i requested a tcm upgrade.
They said it didnt need it as it already had the latest update on its last service at harrotts huddersfield, where it was bought.
So i am still back at the code TCM-000C.
Dont know what to do with it now. With it being a 98 reg is it worth spending up to £1500 on a solenoid change?

Came across this from an old post....

Makes very interesting reading.
What do you think?

I agree with you probably not worth spending £1500 but there are some really good autotransmission specialists who rebuild these boxes , I think the one in the T6 is made by GM ? I have a 2001 V70 2.4T which I bought with a faulty autobox , a forum member recommended Transmission Technology Solihull contact Ken ( I have the number somewhere if you cant find it ) he quoted approx £1300 for a complete rebuild on an AW55-50SN box including taking it off and refitting to the car , there are probably others closer to Dagenham , if its a solenoid and dosnt need the box removing then you might expect the job to cost a lot less than £1300 , I didnt use him eventually as despite having fault codes indicating 'incorrect ratios ' the car is now running but in the discussion I had with him was well impressed by him as someone you can deal with and knows his stuff and to his credit he gave me a contact in Birkenhead who could also help so I wouldnt have to drive 100 miles . Alternatively I would think you can pick up a secondhand gearbox for £300 or less with a gaurantee but then you still have the hassle of fitting it and hoping it works ok but dont assume it definitely needs a new box , it may not .

Bernard,
Wishful thinking on my part but i hoped it needed a gearbox flush and fill.
Just checked the gearbox dipstick and all seems fine, even the colour is still reddish. No black bits or any signs of knackered oil.
So its back to the drawing board as to what to do with it.

Thought mine looked reddish & was all OK, till I did the oil change

Why not get a small receptacle & drop a little out of the box

I think you'd be surprised, I was.

Like I say when wiped from off of the dip stick with a bit of white kitchen roll the old oil still looked quite red.

But as you can see next to some new oil there is absolutely no comparison.

Sorry, can't find that TCM code listed anywhere for an S80 T6 or anything else for that matter.

The code you originally listed, TCM-000C = Shift solenoid S2. Hydraulic fault it seems is a common failure for this box. A Google search will reveal several links.

The gearbox is a GM type 4T65EV (-GT), most of the comments you will find on this forum refer to the Aisin Warner AW55-50SN box fitted to the 5 cylinder cars so although many may be useful some will not be applicable.
