Default S40 Engine Undertray

Should my S40 (56 plate) have an engine undertray? It doesn't have one, which surprises me, and I get a sound like tyres on a concrete road whenever I am driving over 40-50mph, which I think is air rushing through the engine bay. Does anyone else have this problem?

I thought all S40/V50 had an undertray, not 100% though.

Mine got damaged so I removed it. I get a slight whistle from (I think) the turbo occasionally but apart from that I haven't noticed its loss. Makes it a lot quicker to do an oil change of course.

Hmmm, maybe the noise isn't coming from there then. It's like a low rumble, but definitely sounds air related, and is getting on my nerves!

I'm sure the undertray would certainly help with those noises. Shouldn't be too hard to get from a scrappy or dismantlers. They are pretty expensive from Volvo Dealer though.

Diesels have an undertray but petrols don't .. I dont think it will make any difference to your road/tyre noise though .

My 2.4i V50 has one although previous garages working on it have managed to lose most of the fixings...

My T5 has one too, although I cannot be sure it hasn't been fitted post purchase by the original owner. All I know is that mine came with it on.
