T5R SRS/airbag light on
Anyone found a definitive answer to resetting the SRS light on pre OBDII 850s?
I took the air bag off to try and fix the horn (which was a right pain, i ended up bypassing all the wiring to get it to work). Anyway i followed the Haynes procedure of disconnecting the battery before taking the bag out, then switched the ignitoin on before reconnecting the battery but the SRS light remained on. I disconnected the battery again for about an hour but still no joy! Found a few suggestions on searches but anyone actually found a method that has worked for them? cheers Mike |

SRS is on socket B5, use the same procedure as reading/resetting the engine management system.

regarding the horn , its where the black earth wire uses a spring clip to attatch it to the steering wheel frame behind the air bag , the official volvo fix is to spread the clip with a self tapping screw to ensure a good earth .
You can buy a pocket data book from your dealer which explains all the code reading procedures and a wealth of other useful information regarding your car .. |

Thanks for all the input, i'll try socket B5 although it will be next weekend before i get the chance.
Regarding the horn i had initially thought the problem was at the sterring wheel but all was well, this is the most bizzarre electrical fault i have ever come accross: 1) The ground wire to the horn for some reason is permanently connected to ground. 2) The +12v to the horn is totally dead. It doesn't help that the Haynes manual says the wires to the horn should be yellow/black for ground and yellow/violet for +12v, and mine are black and yellow/red respectively!! Anyway to solve it i cut the black wire and spliced it to the yellow/black wire at the steering wheel, and then spliced the yellow/red wire from the horn to the yellow/violet wire going to the wash/wipe (which comes off the same fuse as the horn anyway). It works fine now but i'm still ****ed off because i have no idea what the cause of this stupid fault is! Cheers Mike |
