Default Where to get Diagnostic software and hardware?

Hi Everyone

I am looking to get hold of Diagnostic Software and hardware for my Volvo S40 52 reg.

Could you someone point me at the right directions to where to get it or how much dose it cost?

I would like to check if my Timing is wrong with a software.

Thanks

Hi Vasi,
What makes you think the timing is out? What are the symptoms?

Hi Rif

Thanks for that, Recently i got the VVT pulley replaces along with solenoid, Timing belt, Water pump plus service. its done by the Honda specialist

Now when i start the in the morning its starts normal without any problem.

When i drive it for 3 or 4 miles until the engine is warm, i stop the car to go somewhere and come and start the car, its ticks over few time like 5 times and then start very sluggish way, then this happens through out the day while the engine is warm, sometime it even sounds like starting a diesel engine (shakes and vibrates) very unhealthy sound.

So starting to think its might be the timing is wrong or the Engine Temp sensor sending the wrong signal to the ECU to do that.7

I am new to this car and i dont know anything about it, so thought of getting a Diagnostics Software and Hardware to check if i can see anything.

Please give me some advice on what to do.

Thanks

Br

Hi Vasi,
It sounds like a fuel related issue to me, but I'm sure others on here would have a better idea. Possibly fuel pressure regulator, but these are difficult to test and expensive to replace. Engine temp sensor, if bad, should throw a fault code, and cause the cooling fan to stay on after you switch off the engine.

Is the engine check light coming on? Maybe you could take it back to your Honda specialist, and make some friendly enquiries - he should at least be able to read or check for any stored fault codes in the ecu.

If you want to have a go at fault diagnosis yourself, then to get started you'll need a OBDII reader - either a good handheld unit, or OBDII cable and software, then you'll be able to monitor some of the sensor readings in real time on your laptop PC as you drive.
