I dont understand the software bit , you phoned them and they told you all the software was up to date without the car being there ? Or They have done a recent full software update for you ?

yes there is a difference between an oil level recall and a service promise software up date . Your car may not have been applicable , though . Every time your car visits the dealer , recalls are checked ...

Sorry for the confusion. I called the same dealer that used to service the car up to 4 month ago. And they said its been fully updated. And they recommended 6.2L for oil change. That's why I got confused. But I think they were reading from a Manuel or something. At the moment its got almost full dipstick covers and I have no problem at all...thanks.

Ahh right , a volvo dealer then .. there are always new updates to be done at every service , So if it was done 4 months ago thats not bad . If you have another volvo service next July you will get more free software updates . The 6.2 is the old figure so they are not looking at the right current documents !

Yes warm oil will drain fast and flush out any particles better . Make sure you do the oil filter first as about a litre from that drains down into the sump ..

Cant quite understand that bit :-)

i bought 2 litres of cheap oil with the spec to add them into after drain the old oil. Just to make sure the old black oil is flushed out completely. I think its been in for over a year. Then after all is drained , I will added the new Volvo filter and the castrol oil to 5.8L.
Its some sort of flashing rather than using any flush product. What do you think?
And thank you very much for your help

With Fully synthetic oil you don't need flushing as it holds all the dirt within the oil .. But nothing to loose :-)
