Cool New member

Hi all,

New member here. I'm from Darlington, County Durham and purchased a 240 GLT around 3 weeks ago. I'll follow up this initial post with a couple of photos of the car. It's in very good nick and only has a few very minor cosmetic issues that I can tinker with over the coming months and years.

The car may be known to some of you as apparently, it was active on the show scene. It has covered 78k in total with only 7k miles covered in the last 16 years. Despite this, it has been tested every year and maintained whilst always being garaged, so it is a pretty mint example. I'm really chuffed with it.

I've always had a soft spot for these as one saved my life when I was 18 months old. A Transit van hit the side of our old blue 240 at around 30-40mph. I was on the same side of the car in my baby seat but was completely uninjured in the crash. I'm told that the police officer attending the scene said that had we been in a Ford Escort or similar, it's likely it would have been a fatal incident. There have always been Volvos in our family. My Dad currently drives a V90 having also had a 740, a 940, a 440, and an 850 over the years. I also have a V50 which my partner now uses as her daily.

Cheers!

Photos! Minor cosmetic improvements being things like the red reflective strip in the bumper and the minor blemishes to the black pinstripe on the N/S 1/4 panel.

Now that's a stunner!

I'd have to remove the red wheel nut covers as it would do my head in

Any plans other than the cosmetics?

Hi Raymond, and welcome.

Wow, you've certainly bagged what looks to be a stunner......

I'm just around a year into Volvo ownership, having somehow managed to avoid for the past 35 years or so of car ownership.

From my experience, you are in the right place on here, as there's so much helpful information on the model pages, and any issues I've had, so many other forum users have provided fantastic assistance and support.

Now the dilemma, to keep miles low, or just drive it and enjoy?? I think I'd lean towards the latter......

Cheers
Steve

Perhaps the red covers are for locking wheel nuts?

Certainly a very tidy example of the breed. Perhaps someone will buy the Exxon Valdez so I can re-commission SFSS?
