Is that by any chance a US spec speedo' with the marker at 55 MPH? I don't recall any of our 240s, and we had 5 in period, ever having that feature.

Note the r0,960 figure that must match your British speedo . American miles are different to British miles . I remember American spec speedos only went up to 80 mph in the 1970's - 80's

Brit and US miles are the same. You are thinking about gallons. Yes the 0.960 is the critical number as it has to match the gearing. US cars had a mix of rear end ratios.
