hand brake releases two different ways
1. if wearing seatbelt it will auto release whilst pulling away from stationary. 2. without wearing seatbelt it will release but only by depressing brake pedal first and pulling release lever. if it is releasing by any other method then there is a fault!!!! |

i agree you should always use the handbrake, especially in a v70 withe high level
brake lights, have been behind another and they are blinding withe all lights on.back to the electronic handbrake , i tow a large caravan and find it brilliant for hill starts, just drive off ,you can feel the foot brake go down more when you put the hand brake on |

Maybe too early to say after just 3 days but so far (touch wood) the V70 handbrake auto release works much better than the Audi one did. It releases almost imperceptably whereas the Audi used to give a definite lurch as it let go or often wouldn't release at all and had to be switched off manually. So far its released every time and I've tried to various amounts of gas/clutch combinations to try to catch it out and all fine and smooth release. The position of the switch is still daft though.....
