Just paid £245 for my road tax this month, Gordon Brown's legacy of theiving from the motorist.. Does getting an LPG conversion alter how much road tax you have to pay?

RFL and LPG
That all depends upon the age of the car.
I think that for pre-2001 cars the RFL is based on the engine cubic capacity and that's it, regardless of any LPG considerations. For newer cars I believe that it may be different. Have a look at the Directgov website - if you have a furtle around there you should be able to turn up the rules, although as they were drawn up by the late and unlamented GB, they will be horrendously complicated! Mines is a 2001 and is based on emmisions. According to direct.gov it looks like a conversion may save me £10 a year.

you just did the hard work for me with this thread thank you, conversion = possible , decent savings possible on £/mile, and not getting "worse" on the tax disk.
still debating as £1200ish for the conversion is nearly the £1400 i paid for the car,,,,teach me to buy a car cheap from a mate in the trade.

think as the others have said, if you plan on keeping the car and doing the miles, not only will the system pay for itself but could save you quite a bit of money in the long run.
