Default Noises in drivers footwell and others

I have a MY22 XC60 B4D. When I turn off the engine but stay sat in the car, there seems to be a lot of activity down on the drivers footwell. This used to be just a lot of clicking and clunking noises, but today I have notice a louder grating noise. It almost sounds like the noise a chattering solenoid or relay would make. I’m not sure it sounds to healthy! I have always assumed that the clicking noises were normal but now wonder if they are.

Also after shutting down there is a buzzing noise from the engine compartment that sometimes go on for sometime. This almost sounds like the buzz you got from a xenon headlamp.

Are these all normal? What is it doing!?

I’m on my second SPA Volvo now and both have made the noises you describe. The engine bay noise nearly every modern car I have had has made yet never been sure what it is!
I now have a T8 and along with the noises from the HVAC (the flaps closing when the car is switched off), there’s a lot of relay clicks from behind the dash. Not sure what it is but assured it is normal!

I have had reason to sleep overnight in our T8 on two occasions…one was intentional on a camping mattress stretched out in luxury with the seats down, the other in the car park of Bangor A&E (long story with a positive outcome!)

On both occasions the clicks, clunks, squeaks, chirps etc continued on and off all night, seemingly restarting every so often!
