Simons Exhaust Over Axle pipe
HI All
I'm currently in the process of fitting the Simons Sport exhaust on my 66 Amazon. Fitting the 4-2-1 header to the straight pipe was a bit of a challenge but with some gentle persuasion I managed to get it to fit. Issue #1 What have anyone of you done about the fitment so close to the floor? Bigger issue #2 I can't get the over axle pipe to line up and fit between the straight pipe and the box!!! Could someone please offer any tips? Does the pipe need to be cut??? I bought the kit from a reputable supplier and I'm confident that I've ordered the correct part. Thanks Chris |

I have a Simons sports exhaust on mine, its been on 8 years and looks a year old, no rust and a sweet burble on tickover and a sophisticated rasp when under load. Mind you we have no salt on the roads where I live in France so maybe its just that stopping the corrosion.

To fit a 4 branch you have to cut off the 2 into 1 section off the Simons. I's pot luck that the run of the Simons suits the run of the 4 branch. It could mean that the under floor pipe with its long thin silencer can end up running high or low when it should be more or less parallel to the floor. The position of that underfloor run probably affects the position of the rear section. Perhaps start from the back and get the over axle pipe in and then fit the rear box. There isn't much clearance for that but it can be done. Many hang the box at the back with a strap from the bumper bracket. Not ideal as you want the box to be both softly mounted but have sufficient clearance to stop any knocking. Once that is in fit the long section so it clears the floor but lines up with the 4 branch. If they don't line up very well and you can't get a bend into either of them consider a short mesh flexi to join the two parts. You can get one about 9" long which should work. You will need a support arrangement at the front.
