There should have been no reason at all to modify the rear section of the prop shaft. That is the same unit in all of the configurations, Whether you have an M40 4 speed, an M41 OD box or an automatic. If it has been modded, all the more reason to get the complete shaft, both sections, balanced as one. If the yoke on the back of the shaft has been welded in slight off centre for example you will get the end rotating incorrectly. That will have to be repaired.

Yeah thats what I thought, I'm just a bit apprehensive to start buying and swapping bits until I'm sure of the cause of the vibration!

Quick update on the vibration, I decided to replace the rear modified section of prop shaft with a second hand one from Amazon cars, I took the U/Js from my prop and fitted them to the replacement and hey presto no vibration! Turns out the modification obviously wasn’t that accurate!
