Default Wonky Window Woe

XC60 2 years old - wound down passenger window but it didn't want to go back up again. Luckily happened on a dry day; drove to the dealer who found that the window had snagged on a loose section of the door insulation foam. Internal foam panel damaged and so they closed the window and disconnected all the switches. In for a repair tomorrow.

Wife's 2012 XC60 R Design D5 has just developed a problem with the Tailgate. Takes 4 or 5 goes with the remote to open , a little bit at a time. Much the same to close with auto button.

Default Continuous Problems

XC60 Drive S, 2010
So far it's had new drive shafts, new clutch, flywheel etc. (and this failed within a week - exactly the same problem but this time the dealer said it was the slave cylinder, even though this had just been replaced), new DPF sensors, last week my front passenger window needed a new complete regulator assembly and this week my driver window has packed up!

I'm not paying a dealer or another garage a few hundred pounds for this, I've had a look and can get a regulator for about £65 but can anyone tell me how to go about removing the regulator assembly - I've removed the outer door panel (door card), taken all the bolts from around the regulator assembly but would appreciate if someone could let me know how to get the regulator assembly off the door.

This is the first Volvo I've owned and I've never had a car that's had so many problems. I bought the car as I thought they were pretty much bulletproof.

Default Roof lining replace

I've had a 65 plate XC60 SE LUX D5 from nearly new.
Just had to have interior full roof lining replaced (under warranty thank goodness) at 3 year service.
A large bubble had formed and was growing where the lining was becoming unstuck.
I've not seen that in 40 years of motoring and many cars.

MY12 D5 AWD XC60 SE LUX Nav

alternator failure, needed new alternator and battery under warranty
new steering rack (steering wheel kept locking in place) under warranty
DEM pump for AWD replaced under warranty

Whilst this is not overly satisfactory, we have had 5 XC60's and this is the only one that has had anything serious go wrong (other than alternator in my wife's MY14 model which has previously had an oil leak all over it).

Default endless problems

xc60 D5 2012 with 70k. Bought just over a year ago from Volvo with Selekt policy.
Returned car as too noisy, replaced one injector - suggested they replaced all but it was refused. Very little difference. Returned car a couple of months later with same problem - replaced another injector. Still refused to replace all of them. In the meantime car had been back and forth with auto gearbox problems - eventually replaced unit. But used recon unit and not new !
Warranty expired and two weeks later EGR valve packed up - no leeway on warranty. On plus side car now drives much better and slightly quieter - should they have picked this up earlier ?!
I believe the Volvo warranty is a smokescreen that Volvo hide behind. Any borderline problem and Volvo will hide behind the rules of the warranty company. All of my complaints were referred to the warranty company and
I was told it was out of Volvo's hands.
Also, I believe garages will take in a 2nd hand car without doing a full
test/service knowing that any major fault will be covered on a warranty policy, after sale , thereby saving them the cost of rectifying said problem.
My car cannot have had a particularly thorough check otherwise they might have noticed the worn wiper blades and feathering to both rear tyres !!

Default Other fault

I have a 17 plate xc60 d4 which developed a drive shaft whine about 9 months ago. It was replaced under warranty. Thr noise has just started again and i expect to have it done again in the next few weeks. Is this unusual?
