2019 S60 Petrol Bad Fuel Economy
Hi all, I am currently getting around 23mpg from my 2019 s60 petrol. I drive in eco mode all the time, drive gently and smoothly and don't accelerate hard. I do a lot of city driving but still I am shocked by how bad the economy is. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

No mate that's what 2.0 petrol cars do on the urban cycle, never listen to Archie Pistonwhacker on a forum whose 4.2 XJ does 40 mpg @ 90 mph, the times I see this and for the record the best way when considering a car is to look at the official figures and deduct 25%.

What engine?? I have a T5 S90. City driving that’s about right, but on a run in ECO I can hit high 40’s doing 65. But that lasts about an hour……

Yeah, what you’re getting is normal, not sure what you expect from a 2.0 pulling 1.6 tonnes! On longer runs as I said it can be epic!

Unfortunately the Volvo petrol engines are not very efficient similar about town, driving at 70 on the cruise mid 30s if I want to make progress on a motorway 33 maximum.

I don’t think Volvo are alone in this. BMW boast stupid mpg for their diesel’s, the truth is, the world is not flat, there is wind, and some of us like to do more the 55mph as we have places to be.

It's across the board, every 2.0 I ever owned made between 22-25 urban and 30-35 being legal on the UK motorway, dropping to 60 might have made a difference but I needed the minutes rather than the mpg at the time. Others that bettered it were both 1.8's, an Avensis that would return 25-28 urban and a Skoda Superb II dsg which 28 was the urban norm but 45 was the mixed figure, I had a 1.4 Golf as a loaner one time which was also a dsg and that ran the same figures as my diesel Passat at 30 urban. |

Similar story on his previous audi s4 wagon. He's always sending me pictures to wind me up! I'm sure BMW diesel's could achieve amazing mpg on a long run. What it comes down to is the volvo units are really poor on fuel.
