Default poor running p1800 1871

Hi,

Is there anyone in the Stalybridge area north west who fancyies trying to get my p1800 e to run well happy to pay for your time.

Just spent a decent sum of money for it to run 3-4 day then switch to misfiring and getting fuel in the oil. AHHHHH been months not running right.

appears this injection system just baffles most garages.

Check for possibly a leaking Cold Start Injector. See also: http://www.sw-em.com/bosch_d-jetroni..._fault_tracing

Good Hunting!

An older Mercedes mechanic should be familiar with the system. They used it.

I'm with Ron. Those cold start injectors will dribble away until you lose your mind.

D-jet isn't too hard..this book explains things really clearly. A methodical approach to the various parts will soon have your car running sweetly. Good luck.

This problem was apparent when the car was new for PDI , lots of cold starts and not allowing it to warm up properly switch off again . This raises the sump level considerably .. The fuel injection system is not clever enough to know that the last start was recent so dumps more fuel in thinking it is a full cold start again . cold start injectors are very reliable . Modern versions of fuel injection realise this and give less fuel on a subsequent cold start . Have you been twiddling the manifold pressure sensor ? Wish I lived by you ..! There is no reason why you could not fit the Bosch LH system from a 940 on this engine and have trouble free running , but it is good if someone can sort your original system to work as intended .

Could be because the car pre-dates most internal combustion engine development.....

Clan;

I agree a Hot-Start is not best accommodated (this was later improved with the Thermo-Timer Switch which controlled CSI based in-part on also a thermal input), and Injectors are generally very reliable, but I have heard of leaky CSI and that is what symptoms are pointing to...

Cheers

Looks like it was the cold start now running fine without it.
