Yes definitely. Having owned a 2002 V70 D5 for 8 years & a 2013 XC60 D4 AWD for the past 10 months, I would highly recommend the marque.
Had to replace the vacuum check valve & EGR valve on the XC60 but apart from that it's been trouble free (fingers crossed). Despite the actual 38-40 mpg fuel consumption against the stated 54.3 average mpg, it wouldn't put me off buying another Volvo.

This is my 5th V70 only one of which was purchased new. No longer available so I don't know what will happen when I need to change it. Happy with it at present & I don't wish to change. At just over 100,000 miles it's just nicely run in. All the best peeps,JDmac.

Never had two cars of the same brand or even group so far.
My next car will be electric, if Volvo enters the EV market with more style than Audi or Mercedes. I am sure that Volvo would be in my shopping list I don’t think being owned by the Chinese group has been bad to Volvo, I’m totally impressed by how the brand has progressed. |

Our next car will be electric...the Hyundai Kona. Looking forward to it! I will certainly be interested in the Polestar when it arrives....but with all EVs right now, the waitlist is looong, well over 6 months on the Kona's, so if you want one, I'd suggest you move early However, our Kona will be swapped for our SMax (don't need 2 large wagons any more!) - still keeping the '14 XC60 for those really long runs, or jobs needing more capacity....still under 75k miles, still enjoying driving it, super comfy & well equipped

I've voted likely yes.Back in the mid/late '80s I had a 144 auto which I swapped against a 245 auto[at the time I needed the carrying capacity of the estate]that was it then until about 3yrs ago when I bought[because it was super cheap]my V70 P1 manual then last week I bought my 960 saloon auto. When looking for a car I tend to buy the one that "speaks" to me rather than by brand.Off hand can't think of any car I'd buy that comes from post 2003/4 as they've generally got too many "toys" that I neither need, want or understand and for me cars in general lost a lot styling wise from that period onwards.

I'd consider a V60 CC though as much as I prefer a diesel engine in these cars for covering distance a 4 cylinder VEA diesel would not be on my shopping list. The fact the EGR cooler and valve issue is ongoing would be a major concern. All credit to Volvo for covering this but when the cover stops it will be an expensive burden.
Having had two S60's back to back since 2006 I do not like the styling of the rear end of the new S60. It's too Škoda and quite why the boot lid cuts in narrowing the opening I do not understand. Between my 2005 MY S60 D5 Sport and 2011 MY S60 D3 R-design Lux the earlier car had better seats, and panel gap/under bonnet sealing was better. The newer car has never let me down in terms of stranded at the side of the road but has had minor issues, sensors, control valves, intercooler return hose split which did not happen on the earlier car. Rust, not a word I'd normally associate with Volvo is an issue on the cross member under the bonnet what the radiator/intercooler sits on and not what I'd expect of a Volvo Selekt car. So, in summary, I like the interiors, the styling, but I'm torn over what will propel my future car. I'd like a diesel. if that's not an option then some hybrid sub-T8 would be considered but nothing with a CVT gearbox. Been there, done that with a Toyota Auris estate which was as much fun as the weekly grocery shop. Over to you Volvo !!!

Nearly bought a 57 plate, black S60 T5 for the Eudora alloys and was going to use it for spares for my 2005 S60 T5. It was nice - though geartronic box and beige interior (yuk).
Then someone sold me some refurbished Eudora alloys for £400. I then went to see a 1999 manual C70 T5 coupe which was a bit of a shed but he only wanted £310. Sadly, walked away as it had a lot of rust and a grey interior on a black car (worse than beige). Bargain though but would have cost at least £5K to put right. Rare car though - beautiful lines. I would buy another 5 cylinder T5 again. Still thinking of buying a rebuilt C30 T5 but it's a group N and not cheap enough due to that - and I would have to sell my Rav4 to buy it which I kind of need in Cornwall when it's blowing a hoolie or if I am in Penzance as the kerbs are made of granite and I've just got my new 18 inch Eudoras and don't want them knackered. With the cash I have spent on the T5 I could have bought a Maserati - I doubt the parts would be more expensive - but the insurance certainly would be and they are 'look at me' cars where as a Volvo is more 'leave me alone to do my thing'. A Focus RS is a nice car but I'm 52 - I'd look like an idiot in one. There is a 50 year old geezer in a black WRX STi round these here parts and he looks like a complete dick in it. Like 'Old Guys' - 'Volvo Rules'... |
