Default Tyre size query

The standard 18" tyre size on the XC60 T6 is 235/60R18

The rolling circumference of a 255/55R18 is 5 mm (less than a 1/4" or 0.2%) less than that of the standard tyre.

So in principle it may be a good replacement option, but there are other considerations - the increased width and increased unsprung mass.

Question: Has anybody done this and if so, with what results (or problems ).

Your other problem might be rubbing the front wheel arch on full lock - an MOT fail. You also need to check they tyre spec to see if the wider tyre can be fitted to your width of rim.

What would you hope to gain by doing this?

Previously I had "upgraded" the tyres on my XC70 from 215 to 235 width and it really transformed the wagon to a superbly surefooted beast.

I was wondering if an upgrade on the XC60 would yield similar results
