Help needed - third brake light
This might be a silly question but how do you get into the third (high level) brake light, on a 1999 S40? I've been trying to get the cover off but I don't want to force it and break any clips off.
Any ideas greatly appreciated because it's driving me mad. Thanks, Chris. |

Haynes Manual Quote
The Haynes Manual is so helpful for this it says release the retaining clips and remove the cover (see illustration) Illustration shows it with the cover removed, and a hand either side.
Just keep trying. Andrew Reed Speedyreedy 1999 S40 Gdi |

Did anyone successfully get the cover off without breaking it?
I need to take mine off and have the same trouble - I have squeezed, pushed, pulled and gently levered with a small screwdriver and it won't budge. What is the secret? |

Yes you are right but if you want to get at the washer nozzle you have to remove the light and to do that you have to unclip the plastic cover.

OK, managed to get a translation of the most relevant bit
Original:- "Открываем заднюю дверь, тянем нижнюю часть крышки фонаря на себя и затем вынимаем её из паза в верхней части." translation from Google is:- "Opening the rear door, pull the covers bottom of the lamp itself, and then removing it from the top of the slot." So I think you lift the bottom edge of the cover and slide the cover down (the rear door is open so its upside down) to remove it. I'll give it a go when I get home. Thanks again, Alex. |
