Default Tailgate problem

Tailgate has suddenly not unlocked when rest of doors have. Have tried locking and unlocking a number of times. Have also tried just boot release button on key fob.

It is not a powered boot, all boot issues/posts I can find seem to be related to this.

The rubber strip/handle feels like it is clicking/moving as it always has.

Any ideas or solutions?

Thanks in advance
Stuart

I have a similar problem with my tailgate door in that I can only get it to work 100% of the time with the rubber cover removed, so I have left the rubber cover off and covered the contacts with some duct tape. Its been like this for a long time and maybe you could try to open with the rubber cover removed, assuming its the same as my older model and its only a couple of screws to remove.

Do you mean the rubber cover that is over the handle/switch? The one on the outside above the number plate?

Yes. When you push the rubber cover all it does is push together a thin contact. I noticed my opening becoming very erratic when pushing the rubber cover but perfect opening with the rubber cover off. There are only a couple of torx type screws to undo and the rubber cover drops off exposing the metal contact switch.

Thanks. Just tried that and the little switch is working fine. Sadly even without the cover it is not opening the boot.
