Default 2.0T Replacement engine required

Hi again gents

I have just had the latest update on my S40 2.0T following on from the thread below...

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=44663

Latest is that the 'whole bottom end of the engine has gone as well', whilst not 100% sure what this means (the chap said the mechanic will call me later to explain fully) I now concur with him that I need a replacement engine.

The garage have checked locally and further afield and there seems to be nothing out there, anyone have any idea where the best place to start looking for one is or if anyone has one they are willing to sell?

Thanks in advance.

Nearly all my life, I have been looking for an opportunity to replace my engine, but I have been lucky not to need to. If I had an opportunity to do so, I will get a top of the range Engine & Gearbox from another car, and make my car a beast in disguise.

kacooper@btinternet.com

email this guy, he's your buddy, he is called keith. I think he had a T5 Engine and Gear box (Manual, the fast ones) for sale a while ago, for just over £400.

I'll be very happy to have a T5 Engine in my S40 but that's going to be an expensive project, I'll do it at sme point. He also could have a 2.0T or T4 Engine for the V40 as well.

I'm begining to think its weird, how can you have a crack in cyl 3? I think the car has had an unknown history, most probably been involved in an accident and fixed because engine blocks normally live as long as the car, sometimes out live the car.

who did you get it from?

Salvo apparently have a T4 engine which has only covered 5000 miles, don't know a price, I have already asked out of interest though.
They may be more expensive, but they do have a very good reputation

http://www.partsgateway.co.uk/sitema...-breakers.html
http://www.breakeryard.com/
http://www.247spares.co.uk/

I used these three websites to search for a replacement engine for my T4, ended up buying one from "Volvolks" through partsgateway. They delivered the engine on time and it appears to be ok and the right one on the outside at least. Whether it works properly I don't yet know as it it currently being fitted!

Prices seem to vary quite a bit so try to be patient and get a few quotes first. Get a few quotes for fitting it too and think about anything else you may want to get done at the same time (clutch, cambelt etc)

I know it's a bit late, but you can often bargain a little with the companys that give you quotes via the parts gateway - they know that you will have received various quotes from competitors, so bargain away

Gents thank you all very much for the good advice, I have tried every single piece of advice given but still seem no nearer in acquiring one, if anyone hears of a back end write-off prang involving an S40 2.0T gimme a shout!

Will let you know if the search ever ends!
