Volvo S40 1.6
Hi
I am new to this forum, Can someone help please i have S40 1999 1.6 and 72K on the clock. This car is using about one litre engine oil every 1000 miles. Is this normal or i need to get this checked. Thanks Jas |

That's just about on the bordeline of being "acceptable!" i'd try a scientific test over mileage and oil used again what oil is being used ? A 10w/40 is acceptable anything thinner may be used at a higher rate .

I had the same thing on my old 1.8 S40 (it had 165k miles) - My mechanic used an engine flush and it did help. I will; try to get the name and post it here for you. I will also find out what oil he used as that can make a great difference.
