Leather interior
I have just bought a full leather interior for my 1999 V40 1.9 TD, on the advise that all the plugs will be under the carpet, and fit ok. I have removed the drivers seat and pulled up the carpet and there is one redundant plug (got three in total) but none of the plugs will fit nor are any of the colours a match. The old seat is heated but manual adjustment, the new one appears to be electric adjustment as well. Can I mod it or am I wasting my time? has anyone come accross this.

With the seat removed, you should have a small plug for the seatbelt warning light (2 wires), another plug for the heated seats and, if the car is specced high enough, a plug for the electric motors.
The colours don't match up iirc. Bare in mind that the heated seats plug into a connector clipped to the front underside of the seat. Did you source them from a <2001 model? If you don't have any luck, I expect there's a few people who would swap an electric for a manual if you post whereabouts you are!

dont know what year of car they came from, I was worried that if I started trying to put a feed down the wires I might set off the air bags within the seats, if its got them, I dont really know.

They will have airbags, they're set off mechanically via a switch in the plastic side moulding.
Speaking of which, have you fitted the protective cover over the switch? if not, do it pronto overwise you can easilly set them off! (Its a red plastic thing clipped to the inside of the seatbelt cover. you just slip this over the sensor until it clicks in.)

So no wires for the air bags? set off by enertia then? The cover, is that the one that goes over where the lower seat belt mount bolts to the seat outboard side, if so it constantly comes off, or it used to on the old seats. I cant see any red switch though, I would post a photo but not shure how.

Glad you got it sorted!
The airbags are set off by something deforming the door and crushing the side of the seat at the bottom, pressing in a switch behind it.

I did ( if I am honest) find another way to set them off ( its one of them, let us not talk about this ever again moments) Whilst probing I set the nearside one off and it blew the seat side open obviously. but as it only took the seam out it can be aesily re stitched. I am dropping it off later to be sorted tomorrow.
