Xenon headlights and high beam.
Hi Peeps!
I'm a recent V40 owner and am still bonding with her... Last night on the way home I had my first reason to use the high beam down a country lane, but it would not stay on! As this is my first car with Xenon lights, is there a high beam? The flasher works fine, but will not 'latch' on to light the dark road when the stalk is pulled towards the steering wheel. What am I doing wrong?!? Alex. |

If the V40 is the same as the V70 it has daylight running lights, that means the lights are 'on' even if the light switch is on 'off'. In this mode you can't put the lights on highbeam, it only operates as a 'flash'. To get it to work in high beam you need to turn the lights 'on'.
Hopefully this makes sense, it's caught many a V70 owner out, though I am assuming yours is the same??

Ahh! That does make sense!
As my car does have daytime running lights I seem to have got out of the habit of turning the lights on, as it makes no apparent difference. I'll give it a try at lunchtime, which is now! Alex. |
