My 97 t4 has the large engine cover, with 16v turbo written in it and the hole for the oil cap...

if you look at the Haynes manual for the V/S 40, 96 -04, It clearly shows the type of cover that Genghist remarks on, looking at the picture posted on an earlier posting, it would appear the 1.8 and 2.0 share the same top cambelt cover and coilpack covers.

The phase1 cars had the big cover with 16valve written it. The phase 2 had the small covers as per my earlier post.
PS. The Haynes manual doesn't really cover the phase 2 cars so pretty useless.

Yes, phase 1 is the first picture, phase 1.5 / 2 is the second.

Then there are early and late phase 1 covers. One is black apart from the writing the other is two tone black and silver. I cannot remember which way round they are.
