Default Would this wire cause power loss?

Hi, took my volvo s40 td to the dealers today to diagnose a fault.
The car drove ok but the turbo seemed not to kick in. They diagnosed it as a posible turbo control valve required and have been quoted £107.04 to fix this.
Just of interest I had a look under the bonnet and noticed a broken wire to what I think is the TCV. I have circled it in red on the photo. Can anyone tell me whether this would cause the power loss, if so can i just solder it back on?
Cheers.

Hi

That looks like tcv to me and yes this broken wire will cause loss of power. The brake in the wire looks very close to the connector and will give you problems to repair.

If good with wiring soldering and heat shrink possiblily a second hand connector with a good length of leads could be spliced in.

If not good with wire seek out a good auto electrical person

Hope this helps

yes this is indeed your problem , you might be able to get the connector pim out the shell and in crimp it and re crimp to the freshly stripped end of the wire .
Make sure you tie up the wire after so that the diesel vibrations dont shake the wires and snap them off again after a period of time .
