Default V50 aircon

Hi everyone, we run a '05 V50 which we are very happy with except it has developed what can only be described as a 'rotten egg' smell when the aircon is running. Could the drain off points be blocked? I have looked underneath the car but cannot see a drain pipe anywhere, also is it possible to access the system to clean any filters etc?
Many thanks
Matt

we had that rotten egg smell in our old picassos aircon - turns out bacteria/mould had taken up residence behind the filter... prob not the right way to do it but accessed the air con intake from the engine bay - removed the filter and sprayed some antibacterial spray in to the intake for a couple of minuteswhile blasting the aircon on full pelt. Worked a treat - obviously we left it running for a while after the treatment - and car smealt a touch chemically for a day or two after - but fine now. Dont know if it would work with the aircon on a v50?

Step one: replace the carbon cabin filter located in passenger's footwell.
Step two: go ebay and buy a can of air con disinfectant, you get three for a tenner or something. Set off in the car which recycling on manual and fans on full blast. Leave for 15 min or so.

Job done. Your aircon smells nice.

Thanks for the reply, which bit is the carbon filter? I have had a good look in the footwell but it is not obvious where the filter is.

Thanks again

Matt.

I can see why that would be annoying, quite funny too though.

Link sorted and pointing to correct thread.
