Error 0022 - Wheel Sensor Right Front - Mechanical Fault
As per the title my old V50 (now the Wife's) has been coming up with the ABS Warning / Skid service error a few times and it seems to have happened after it's recent MOT when I then had new coils fitted and then the brakes bled / discs / pads changed.
The error code was read by a snap on reader: Error 0022 - Wheel Sensor Right Front - Mechanical Fault It gave nice dips on the speed sensor whilst driving it around the block too. What is the guess? Sensor buggered or pickup? I've been reading about reluctor rings and other things but couldn't make out if a 2008 V50 D5 had something that could be swapped or if it was a whole new hub jobbie. Please see images that should explain what I saw. Last edited by ChrisCdotcodotuk; Oct 2nd, 2018 at 22:01. |

I think your version is similar to T5 so you would have 4 ABS sensors and magnetic ring in each of the hubs. I know those can get dirty and affect the work of sensors, so advisable thing to do first is to take wheel off, sensor off and then clean the hole&ring as much as possible without further dismantling anything else. Speks of dirt or metal can be trapped there and affect the work of it. 2nd thing to check is to replace sensor (even if you want to swap it from different wheel) it will tell you if sensor is ok or not. Magnetic rings rarely goes bad but its not unheard of either so that would be my last-resort unlikely guess.
But have a go with 2 other solutions first and see how it goes

Had this fault message on the V50, dealer stuck an air line in blew out the small flake of rusty steel that had stuck to magnet. Looked like it had come from the disc dust shield.
All fine after that. John
