Default Enquiry-Daytime Running Lights

Can these be switched off or must it be done in a garage or only at a dealer?

Dealer job only.
Shop around as prices vary and some dealers will refuse doing that aswell.

as LoB says "main dealer only" , Do shop about and be ready for the "we wont" from some
Also it does depend on the Year of the car if it is legal / possible to do so (if your car was made After Feb 2011 it by law has to have DRL = on)

Default My Car

For Andy_d, my car is a 2006 MY C70 T5 SE Lux Geartronic so hopefully if I decide to get them turned off it will still be legal.

Almost, it is cars type approved from that date so wouldn't apply the these cars. And I assume the OP means headlights permenently on rather than the later models proper DRLs that replaced the foglights, in which case headlights always on never met the requirements for DRL type approval anyway.

if you do find a dealer, be prepared for the BS "volvo are refusing to supply the software" from the service desk.
just had that from johnsons of solihull's service desk person, but he was a rude type anyway.

Interested in getting my dipped beams switched off too so they're not on 100% of the time unless I turn my sidelights on – which I then forget to turn off and there's no warning chime!

find a main dealer that will download the software and pay up is the only choice.

I can confirm it's a dealer only job as the indy I used recently couldn't do it & said as such.

and despite the lie from johnsons of solihulls rude service person the software IS available from volvo.

Paul rigby volvo Birmingham have just confirmed it and quoted £68.09 inc vat for it to be done.

Tempted to return to johnsons and have a chat with the dealer principle about his service person telling lies and the attitude of him.... he really Was that rude and abrupt never mind the lie, which is something i detest in people.
For balance Johnsons of solihull parts dept are one of THE most helpful ones ive ever found
