Shock absorber replacement
HI
i have just received my first car V70 T5 (05) I was thinking of replacing the front and back shock absorbers however i get dizzy just looking at all the brands available. I am looking for good quality shock absorber and willing to pay the little extra can anyone advise me of the top brands? I was also wondering which shocks are used by volvo originally thanks |

If money is not an issue, the genuine ones will feel significantly better that other replacements, the only ones that feel like a Volvo. Boge get close to this. Then Sachs Super Touring are a cheaper option. The regular white sticker Sachs are cheaper but not that good feeling. There is also Meyle.
Bilstein more stiff, b8 b6 b4, perhaps b6 are the closer to the stock ride, better match them front & rear

What makes you say B6 is closer to the stock when Bilstein states B4s are OE replacement and B6 are about 20% stiffer than stock?

Thanks everyone for their input, I think i will go for this set from Ebay.
I hope it will take me over London's potholes and bumps without chattering teeth. Am i doing the right thing at the right price? Last edited by MY V70T5; Dec 16th, 2018 at 00:58. |

You'll be just fine
Consider slowing when driving on bad roads or during bad weather What year and how many miles are on this, your first car. Congradulations |

Year 2005 I got it free from a family member who was sick of it, it was showing the immobiliser see manual randomly without warning and would not start for a couple of hours pluss it had stalling issues with losing power while driving for a few moments and not responding to the pedal (not fun on the motorway). I fixed these with a software update at the dealer with a new fuel pressure sensor for £50 from ebay. I still have work to do on the windshield washers but otherwise The car is running like new!!! Rear shock absorber top bolt
Am attempting rear shock absorber replacement myself today on 2004 XC70, have looked at various videos and looks all straight forward, but today after accessing bolt in the boot, the bolt is not lined up with the access hole so cant undo it, see attached photo. Any ideas and suggestions welcome before I go and do something stupid, it is the same on both sides. if it is to complicated I will get someone to do it but it is something I thought I could do myself. Many thanks in advance for any help provided.

I would say B6 is much stiffer than OE having put these on the front of mine.
