XC60 D5 215hp questions
Hi!
Does XC60 D5 have vacuumatic engine mounts? Cause I cant see any vacuum hose heading towards them... Thank you! |

My intake manifold cracked... Could a vacuum problem (from westgate or bypass solenoids) lead to this crack?
Or simply put : what happens if I disable electric or vacuum hoses from this 2 solenoids? |

The vacuum created is less than 1 atmosphere and would not crack a manifold

You got me wrong... I was asking if a faulty(or disconnected from vacuum :worn vacuum hose) wastegate or bypass solenoid could lead to high pressure on intake, thus resulting in a cracked manifold...

Still nowhere near enough pressure created by the turbo to split a manifold - the pressure doesn’t even split the intercooler and that is only paper thin copper
If a waste-gate or bypass isn’t working you will notice in a lack of engine power under the right conditions when the pressure should be getting dumped, eg wide open throttle at high revs.

Absolutely no. You have turbo charged engine. Pressure in manifold created by turbo upto 1.6 bar or even higher.
If there is air leak in intake usually lots of black smoke come out from exhaust and there is no power from engine. I would not bother if crack is negligible not causing massive air leak that turbo would not compensate. However dpf might clog quicker due to unburt carbon in exhaust. Vacuum is created by separate vacuum pump in any turbo charged engine. If turbo wastegate or variable vane actuator fails in such way that pressure in air intake system cannot be controlled and rises above safe level ecu give over boost fault code before cracked/ blown manifold. Cracks in manifolds appear due to vibration/ temperature or pressure cycles ( fatigue cracks), __ |
