Default SC-901 in an S70

I've only gone and bought an SC-901 to fit in my 1999 S70 Tdi. I thought it would be a simple swop with the existing unit but I get no sound which rather defeats the object!
Is it a straight swop and if so what am I doing wrong or could it be a duff unit?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Colin

The 901 will only work with an external amp. You ain't got one by the sounds of it hence no sound.
Sell it on and get an 805 would be the easiest option.
It is possible to get an amp from a car that originally had a 901 in it , but a load of hassle and expense in my opinion.

Hello,
Well worth tracking down the amplifier and loom, makes a fantastic difference to the sound quality.
I can help with fitting etc as I have carried out this upgrade.
Cheers

Could I use the amplifier out of my redundant S80?

Not without modifying the amplifier harness.

I made a while ago a custom harness for an 850 in order to use the PA200 amplifier and his SC 805 radio.

Hello,
Nice neat job there scutyde.
Shows anything is possible with the know-how.
I picked up the '70 series amp and loom online, once i looked in the right places.
Cheers
