meanwhile back to the driving permits, I dropped into the local PO today to see what was happening re the IDP today, the clerk I spoke to had issued 9 permits today, no big deal just take a photo, the picture driving licence and some cash. You need two differennt types to cover all of the EU apart from Liechtenstein
