Anyone need any coal
Took the engine cover off last night and noticed this, leaking injector.
Just ordered new washers from a diesel specialist so will be doing all 5 this weekend. Thankfully we use the same extractor tool and cleaning tool at work so shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Got it soaking in brake cleaner at the moment. |

ouch - the infamous black death! A good example of why we all should regularly remove the cover to check all is well underneath.

Only had the car 3 weeks, didn’t remove the engine cover when viewing. I was more focused on the AWD system working properly, hopefully it’s just the £5:40 cost of the washers to put it right.

Well there goes my hopes of a cheap repair. Just snapped a socket trying to undo the first clamp bolt 13Nm my ar@e, gunna after fork out for 5 clamp kits now.

So end of day 2 and I have managed to get 3 injectors out, the one in the pic is stuck fast and the one next to it is stuck fast. I have tried carb cleaner, brake cleaner, injector cleaner, wd40, heat, 3 foot pry bar and a lot of swearing anyone got any suggestions

So after several attempts at getting the new split ring onto the injectors I decided to fashion a tool.
Basically it’s an olive from a compression coupling brazed to my circlip pliers, simple but effective and saved a lot of swearing. Just used it to get it past the first groove in the injector then pushed the ring the rest of the way with the old clamping ring. |
