Default Fuel cap attachment

Hi guys,

My fuel cap attachment onto the fuel flap has broken and I’m wondering if this is replaceable or I have to buy a complete new cap. The rubber has degraded with time. I own a Volvo S80 2.5 tdi 1999. Any ideas please? Cheers.

Yes, available separately. I got one from eBay, but be aware that petrol and diesel caps are not the same size. Ask me how I know!

As mentioned, make sure get the right cap, I too put an S80 petrol cap on my S60 petrol and got the check engine light.

That rubber wire can be indeed replaced along with the plastic ring, but this plastic ring is very hard to pop out off the cap. I'd rather look for a used cap with from the breakers, these are easy to find still in good shape with the rubber 'wire' still in place

Cheers guys for that. Ebay sells lots of fuel cap attachment rubber connectors for petrol models but not so many for diesel.

I second that, Having spent hours trying to get the plastic ring over the cap I gave up and bought the complete unit. As well as breakers try a dealership, I was surprised that the complete genuine part was not that expensive.

Yep......I think the cap and retaining band was about £15 from my local main dealer
