second hand active xenon headlight.....
So due to mot failure (dim dipped beam) I have had to buy a new light cluster.
I managed to get a s/h one for £200. Upon fitting the dip beam was indeed amazingly bright, unfortunately it was also only 10 feet in front of the car. I adjusted it as much as possible with the manual adjuster (about 13 feet now) and took it for a drive. After about 10 minutes the headlight service warning light appeared. I have checked the motors seem to work by switching from lhd to rhd which worked fine. The error cleared after turning off but again after a few miles it re-appeared Do I need to get it calibrated by someone with VIDA or similar or is the new light no good. For the time being the old cluster is back on (I cleaned the reflector which has helped a little) Any advice appreciated. |

The motor and/or mechanics controlling the vertical movement do not work properly. Volvo”s solution is to replace the entire headlamp assembly as they are a sealed non-serviceable unit.
Best thing to do is contact the seller for a refund.

VIDA is the best route - the documentation will be there to set them up and you can test individually the right/left and up/down motors. You will also be able to read the error code that put the headlamp service message on.
However that's unlikely to change the diagnosis that your replacement unit is faulty.... Volvo's policy would be to replace with new but it is possible to disassemble them - if you are in to that sort of work you may be able to make a good unit out of your two problem ones. Opening the headlight is tricky - you need to warm them in an oven to soften the sealant. Have a look at this : https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...ight=angel+eye

Check the levelling sensor on the rear control arm
Sorry. Wrong post. Didn't read it properly.
