Default 2004 V40 1.8 Burning oil smell from engine

Hello,

I have had my V40 for 3 years now and it has done 75k, before that my mum had it and it was a true older ladies car covering only 25k.

Not long after getting it I noticed that when I drove with the windows down, there was always a small of buring oil, there were no obvious leaks, and I always topped up the oil.

Recently the smell of oil burinig has increased and I am topping the oil up more frequently.

does anyone have any ideas where the leak may be comming from ?

Thanks

You got one before they came out lol That's a low mileage for 30 years!

I'm sure someone'll be along to help soon!

Is it the Mitsubishi GDI 1.8 engine or the Volvo 1.8 one?

BY the way just from previous experience with cars whenever I've had an oily smell it's generally been rocket/cam cover gasket. Really easy fix. Dunno if thats the case here but if it is it's a really easy fix.

I would check the large rubber washer under the oil filler cap as this is a good leaking place and it can run onto the hot engine and make a smell.
