Clutch failure
So, after thirteen and a half years and 140k miles my clutch has just randomly failed whilst I popped into Toolstation and left the car running. Went back and clutch would not disengage. Had pedal pressure but was stiffer than normal. I suspect failed bearing or pressure plate.
So it seems it's time for a new clutch kit with DMF and slave cylinder. Anyone got experience of cost? I'm expecting £1500 to £2000. Ouch! |

Issue you may well face is availability. Someone else needed one, Volvo had none, and neither the manufacturer.
I think £1,500 fitted is about right. |

and the rest OEM brands; so that's interesting what you said on availability - the only DMF available was from Volvo. They're doing the whole job tomorrow and I can collect Thursday morning. Cost: £1709.00. I can live with that given they sent a truck to pick up the car and they're doing it so quickly. |

Ooops, I slowly dread something similar taking place... My chariot will be 15 years old this coming Sep, and although my mileage is lower (currently just above 120k), and car behaves impeccably, I remain realistic and semi-prepared that I might need to shell out at some stage...
Hopefully not during the forthcoming holidays in Europe |

Looked at the old parts and the DMF was completely f@cked. Diaphragm spring was all over the place. |
