Default XC60 Sensus Connect - wrong location!

Hi all,

So, like any diligent new owner, I've just updated the maps on my 2014.5 XC60 to the latest from Volvo. The process, done via USB completed without issue...

...But now, the location on the map is wrong, reporting me about 20 miles North of my actual position. The map tracks ok, but the location is miles out.

I left the car parked all day to see if it would fix itself, but it hasn't. I've also factory reset but this hasn't helped.

Any suggestions before I call Volvo in the morning?

This sounds spoken with the voice of experience. Have you seen this before?

...and Volvo think that the GPS antenna is broken, so it's off to them on Saturday to be looked at. Seems odd that it only failed when the nav maps were updated, but at least it's going to be put right.

Will update back here afterwards for thread completeness.

I find this a strange diagnosis from Volvo since as you say all you have done is update the data which doesnt even touch the software.

I have had this a couple of time is this car, more on the last one, and waiting a day has cured it, or ever driving down the road a couple of miles which has been found to be the resolution by some people here.

I have always put it down to weather (clouds affect satnavs badly) and satellite availability (or unavailablity).

I've done around 40 miles since it started and it's not recovered. Volvo agreed that it was a bit of a coincidence and they were going to start by looking at the software and venture further if they couldn't resolve it.

I had exactly the same symptoms when my car was returned from its first service. The dealer took the car back (after I waited overnight to see if it cleared, as per advice also given to you) and reported that the GPS antenna had failed. The car was returned functioning correctly. I have no idea whether the antenna was the real cause but it did seem odd to me.

Power would have to be continually served to the Satnav to benefit from leaving the car outside. I do not think that that would be possible without messing with the electrics.

A moving satnav can take a very long time to orient itself.

The only time I have seen a slow recovery of the Satnav data is after the car has been in a carferry for a few hours. Perhaps that is why you have to queue up on the quay after disembarking to enable the satnav to locate the satellites (and not for passport and security checks)

you're lucky. My last car was a Seat leon, and apparently the Leon/Golf satnavs would periodically relocate the car at Wolfsburg!!
