Default Resetting 850 GLT 20V 93 Trip computer

Does anyone know how to reset the trip computer on my 1993 850 GLT 20V auto saloon? If I try the mpg or average mpg I get 99.9 also the temp guage is +2 above as I tested it against a known good temp guage. The fuel warning is also very entertaining as when the orange fuel warning light comes on the trip computer will tell me daft things like I have 150 miles left and will increase not decrease

To the left of the steering column you will find a rotary switch, beneath this switch is a small button, hold this down for

a few seconds and the read out on the dash will show a series of lines, after you have driven for a mile or so , you should start to get a mpg figure.Turn the switch for other functions. When fuel light comes on,mpg figure disappears and a figure will appear showing how far you will,in theory,go before you run out.
The fuel light will go on and off depending if the car is facing up hill or down,so the compuer will switch itself between functions until the light is on solid.

Default reset trip computer

Ive found that I think it needs to be reset elseware. Regardless of how often I press the reset, even for 6 seconds so all three reset it still sits on 99.9 mpg/average 99.9 as for the fuel section if I put £30 in at 99.9 a litre it then tells me I have 1025 miles left which even I know is impossible.

I dont know for certain but it sounds like some of your sensors are faulty. If d/c the battery doesnt sort it then the 99.9 is probably just a default number incase that a sensor signal is not recieved.

The mileage for the tank is probably correct as the computer thinks your getting 99.9 mpg on average lol.

My T5 is currently getting 26.3 mpg average and about 350 to a tank if i drive it carefully.

Hope this helps

Would you know where these sensors are located ? I am yet to locate a repair book for it so have no wire diagrams. Once I can locate them I can test for resistance and replace as necessary. Unless I play with the sport button I would say on a long run I am getting around 25 ish maybe a touch more, with sport button I wouldnt want to guess

The trip computer is driven from the instrument cluster.

This in turn gathers information from the engine ECU, etc.

So if it's not working it means signals are missing into or from the instrument cluster.

Link to WD's in your other post.

Tomorrow I will check the fault codes hope that can shed some light on things. Will they be on the fault code list you posted when I had the Lambda light on or are they on a different list?
