Default S40 How to remove door lock

Hello all

Just got new (for me) Volvo S40 2008 1.6 HDI and all is ok'ish (need to replace air condition inter-cooler, turbo and do timing belt asap).

But now to the point. Noticed that left rear door make strange noise couple of seconds after locking doors.

Hope above video will shows the "issue" - it is around 10-11 seconds into clip.

All doors closing and opening fine.

My question is how to remove or get access to door lock ?
I managed to remove door covers and unscrew metal cover holding window motor but can't remove it.

Should I wind down window and then try to remove it ?
On youtube found only clips showing how to remove door covers.

Regards and thanks for any comments.

Tom

That was frightening. There is a secondary lock that engages after you lock the car (disables the inner handles), which probably causes this sound.

This should help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOeaAZyEGgg

Yea, its called "deadlock" and as pointed by AndrasL is normal on those cars. But if one is louder than others, just check if deadlock physically engages on those door - if you cant open door from inside (when applied) by pulling the handle - it works.
